San Sebastian:Day and Night

Image
Just a look at San Sebastian Day and Night  It really is the most beautiful city on earth My walk to school everyday (La Concha Beach) Another look at La Concha Dusk at Zurriola Beach This is the beach that is closest to my apartment and also the "surfing beach" You can see the surfers in the water :) Will making faces while we were waiting for the sun to set. Abby, Marina, Kate, Will and I climbed out onto this rock outcropping racing time so that we could see this happen. Such a beautiful sunset over the water. This is my walk home from school everyday, but this day in particular was overcast. Even when it is cloudy and rainy, Centro looks so amazing and indescribable, the pictures do not do anything here justice.                                                   Epic picture of Will, while the sun is setting Zurriola Beach and Gros(the part of the city where I live) on the left and the river (Centro and Parte Viaje) on the right

Love At First Sight

Leaving Madrid was a bit sentimental at first, but we were all so excited to get to San Sebastian. I had the "pleasure" of sitting next to Travis on the bus, and that made the bus ride, all five hours of it, anything, but boring haha. He is so funny and sweet, he just makes everyone laugh. During the trip we stopped at this gas station type restaurant and we had our first sight of hanging jamon(which is like a hanging pig leg that they cut right off of). We sat down and had lunch, it was very interesting and when we were done, we were ready to go see Donostia. Travis and Erica  Our awesome group on the bus ride, too excited to sleep! Ryan, Kate and Travis Our first glimpse of the surrounding "pueblos" of San Sebastian We were speechless at how beautiful the mountains were and how cute the villages were, everyone kept looking out all of the windows and taking pictures. In San Sebastian near the first beach, beautiful houses everywhere! Excited on the first night

A rather late sumation of Toledo and Segovia

Image
The first week of Spain was so crazy, nights of staying out until 6 am and waking at 8 am so that we could get on a bus to Toledo and Segovia. I met so many people because there were people from all four Spain study abroad locations. The first night we were in Madrid, I didn't really know anyone, and I was so jet lagged so I fell asleep for something like 14 hours and all I had to eat was a milk shake :). The next few nights, made up for up that night though. The second night, most of our group decided to go to a seven story discoteca called Kapital. It was 15 euros to get in and clubs in Spain don't get busy until at least 2am, so we stayed there for awhile. It was awesome because they had this smoke that was pure oxygen that would create a dry ice effect on the dance floor every ten minutes. That was the night I met Abby, so I am really glad I went out. Abby and I were hanging out and we met 3 british men that we spent the rest of the night walking around Madrid with. They w

Film Festival

The International film festival was a little bit ago in San Sebastian, and our little town got turned upside down for about a week. There were famous people staying at the local Hotel Maria Christina and there was a red carpet down by theater on Zurriola beach. Our teachers kept talking about how Glenn Close was being honored and all the shop owners had odes to all the actors and actresses that were in town.   The last friday night before the film festival ended, Erika and Abby decided to try one of the only chinese buffets in town. This restaurant was interesting because it was chinese food, but with a little basque twist to it. It still had jamon, croquets and also included a wok. It was definitely an experience. That is what i keep telling myself about the things I do here..it is all an "experience" I am so happy I am trying so many new things here though. What we did find out though, was that the only place in town that charges tax, is the asian buffet, so after trying
